08 May Crockett & Jones – Fine English shoe makers
I seem to be spending a lot of time with some of Northamptonshire’s famous cobblers proving workplace and commercial photography. This time with fine English shoe makers Crockett & Jones. I was lucky enough to be given free rein to explore their 5 story factory on Perry Street under the watchful gaze of the towering flood lights of Northampton County Cricket Club. Whats fascinating is to see how the building and manufacturing process doesn’t seem to have changed much since its foundation in 1879. It is clear what you are paying for: craftsmanship, dedication, precision, passion and time; lots and lots of time. This is exactly what I love taking photos of and offers some amazing textured backdrops. Frankly I could have spent a whole day in each department. This is basement where the master cobblers work on customer repairs. The staff are all so passionate about what they do, are friendly, motivated and any have been employed decades. Telling these stories is so important when instilling customer confidence in your brand and your product and clearly demonstrates the value of both.
