This was our second year photographing the NIHR / UKCRF Network Conference—a major two-day event bringing together thousands of NHS clinicians, researchers, and healthcare professionals. Held this year at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Birmingham, the event offered an impressive backdrop for what is always a fascinating and inspiring few days.
The brief was to capture a wide range of imagery for use across UKCRF and NIHR’s social media, promotional materials, and internal communications. That meant photographing everything from keynote speakers and workshops to networking moments, exhibitor stands, and group shots of research teams and individual contributors. As always, it was just as important to capture the energy, atmosphere, and human stories happening between the sessions.
The ICC is a huge venue—spread across five floors, with a main arena, hospitality spaces, and numerous breakout rooms—so there was a lot of ground to cover. The client was especially keen to ensure we documented all the headline speakers and a strong cross-section of panel discussions and workshops. With such a high-calibre venue, we also made sure to showcase the scale and setting in the final image set.
The final gallery was very well received, and it’s been a real pleasure to continue supporting such a vital part of the UK’s research and clinical community. We’re already looking forward to next year’s event.
