CLIENT: Star Group Live
LOCATION: ExCeL Centre, London
Star Group Live is a contracted supplier to the UK round of the FIA Formula E World Championship at the ExCeL Centre in London’s Docklands. We were commissioned to provide event photography and video content documenting the installation and delivery of temporary grandstand seating and VIP hospitality suites for the McLaren and Jaguar Formula E teams.
Our role on this project was clearly defined. We were not engaged to photograph on-track racing action, nor would we hold media accreditation to do so. Instead, our focus was on fulfilling the brief: creating strong, commercially useful imagery that showcases Star Group Live’s modular seating systems and StarBox hospitality units, while adding value wherever possible within the access and permissions available to us.
The hospitality suites were constructed from Star Group Live’s modular StarBox units, before being handed over to production teams for branding, interior fit-out, and final dressing. Documenting this transformation — from raw modular structure to polished, high-end VIP environment — was central to the brief. Our images were produced for use across marketing materials, client presentations, and digital platforms, supported by short video clips for a 30-second case study film.
Access at an international motorsport event is tightly controlled, making accreditation, permissions, and planning essential. The temporary Formula E circuit runs around the perimeter of the ExCeL site and includes a unique indoor section, placing the seating and hospitality spaces within the heart of the event environment. We documented the project across the build phase, show-ready stage, and live event, working efficiently alongside production and technical teams.
This type of work is about more than photography alone. It’s about understanding the operational flow, respecting boundaries, and delivering exactly what the client needs — while adding visual value wherever possible. As experienced London-based event photographers, we pride ourselves on producing reliable, commercially focused imagery that supports our clients’ objectives, even within highly restricted environments.
